Video developed by Kathie Garrett, MA; Cindy Morris, PsyD; Rebecca Richey, PsyD; & Chad Morris, PhD

This video illustrates the heart-set, processes, and micro-skills used in Motivational Interviewing (MI) as it is applied to conversations about tobacco cessation. This module is intended to be an introduction to MI and explore ways to incorporate this approach into daily interactions with your patients. In this video, you can watch a provider as she works with Maria, a 35-year-old smoker, who has recently been diagnosed with blood clots and is clearly not ready to have a conversation about quitting smoking.
